Recipient addresses that are permanently unreachable: information, not a block.

The blocklist collects recipient addresses that could not be delivered to permanently. It is the memory the sending logs lack: those expire after 30 days, but a dead address stays dead.

This list blocks nothing

The name is shorter than the truth. We hold back no mail: the list is information. Remove the addresses in the system where they originate, in your shop, your newsletter tool, your customer database. That is where they belong, and only there do you know why they are there.

That we do not block is deliberate. An address blocked by mistake would be a recipient who never finds out they are not being reached: no bounce, no entry, nobody notices. That silent failure is worse than a mail to a dead mailbox.

What makes it onto the list

Only what is final and says something about the address:

• the recipient address does not exist,
• the recipient domain does not exist or has no mail server.

Explicitly not included:

• full mailbox: it gets emptied, the address is alive,
• rejection as suspected spam and provider blocks: those say something about the sender's standing, not about the recipient. Booking them here would mean charging your own delivery failure to the other side,
• rejections by our own server: the recipient never saw the mail.

A list that is too generous is worse than none: it takes away addresses that are still good, and you never notice.

Search, export, release

The field above searches for part of an address. The Excel export is the real purpose of the page: it is the list you take over into your own system.

The arrow at the end of a row takes an address off the list again. You must be able to do that: a typo in an order form gets corrected, a mailbox is recreated, a domain moves. If delivery then fails permanently again, the address returns on the next run.

How long an entry stays

Without a new delivery attempt an entry disappears by itself after 24 months. With your account the whole list disappears. The addresses belong to your recipients, not to us; the details are in the privacy statement.
